It was constructed as a grant aid project from the Japanese government within the Institute of Medical Science, one of the country's leading tertiary medical institutions in the capital, with the aim of improving the quality of medical services for pregnant women and newborns. The building and interior have a simple shape with a 7m grid. The exterior uses blocks designed to provide both sun protection and ventilation, which was a difficult part to construct, but the finished product has an atmosphere that is characteristic of Pakistan. It is hoped that this advanced medical facility will save many lives.
